A long kept secret (shhh!), the Wenaha river that converges with the Grande Ronde river at Troy, Oregon has some of the most amazing trout fishing in the state. The Dolly Vardin (aka Bull Trout or Northern Char) were always plentiful in this river and since the regulations changed to 'catch and release only' a few years ago, their numbers have grown. Access to the river is restricted to hiking or horseback, no motor vehicles allowed. A popular trail with access to the river is located in the rural town of Troy. For a great weekend outing, call or contact www.troyresort.com for lodging and spend a day exploring and fishing this gorgeous river.
